6 Emerging Nigerian designers of the year

Fashion/style keeps getting better and Nigeria as one fashion loving destination, it is important to constantly watch out for new ones. Nigerian/Nigeria based designers had a great outing this year; slowing getting to a point where fashion enthusiasts can sit back in Nigeria and shop Nigerian brands all year round.

We have those designers who have made a name for themselves over time and the emerging ones, last year we predicted the designers to look out for in 2014 (and we were spot on!), we are back with the 2015 edition and we hope you will watch out for them. Check on our picks for 2015:

1. Orange Culture

Orange Culture is a menswear brand known for their quirky, absolutely brilliant and wearable pieces. With the fashion brand owned by Adebayo Oke-Lawal who doubles as the Artistic Director; Orange Culture had a huge exposure/rave reviews this year with features in international press as L'Uomo Vogue, Vanity Fair, a visit to the Pitti Uomo amongst others.

They had a successful outing as well at the 2014 GTBank LFDW and from the pieces shown, the brand isn't resting on ts oars, we see a brilliant 2015 ahead for Orange Culture.

2. McMeka

McMeka is a menswear brand with a bias for their bespoke suit;. a signature of the brand that is crafted to perfection. Mcmeka menswear brand is owned by Rodney Emeka who also doubles as the Artistic Director; he got everyone's attention when he won the MTN LFDW British Council Young Designer Of The Year in 2013 and till now he hasn't disappoint. He is behind the major bold looks D'Prince has been sported wearing in recent times. The brand is definitely one to look out for. He was at the the 2014 NYFW and also this year's GTBank LFDW

3. Iamisigo

Iamisigo is a womenswear brand owned by celebrity stylist and designer; Bubu Ogisi who doubles as the Artistic Director. The brand is known for its minimalist quirkiness as her designs are unique with a lot of fluidity to it, the Iamisigo brand is not for the faint hearted, the Iamisigo woman is definitely one who dictates her style. With a lot of celebrities owning the brand, rave reviews and the recent 2014 GTBank LFDW outing, we see a bright 2015 for the brand.

4. Re Bahia

Chic minimalist describes Rebahia owned by Orire Omatsola who is also the brand's Artistic Director, Rebahia is loved for the chic way they play with pastels to reveal stunning ethereal pieces. Clean lines, flattering, fluidity and so on come to play for the brand. Rebahia was at the 2014 GTBank LFDW.

5. Tzar

Tzar is a menswear brand, known for bold, unique and absolutely wearable pieces; noted for an array of bold graphic tops, their pieces stand out everytime. Tzar is owned by stylist turned designer; Ian Audifferen who is also the Artistic Director.

6. Eve& Tribe

Eve & Tribe has become Nigeria's Zara. With Eve & Tribe fashion is affordable and at its best. The Nigeria based brand owned by Simone Bartlett and Rukky Ladoja had a great outing in 2014 and we see the designs everywhere in 2015. Their pieces vary across moods and occasion and in pocket friendly range.
